Confession Time... Staff Have Favourites!

We know, we know… we’re not supposed to have favourites.

We love every animal who comes through our doors, and every single one deserves a loving forever home. But if we’re being honest, sometimes a particular pet just sneaks into our hearts.

Maybe it’s the goofy dog who greets everyone with a toy in his mouth. The shy cat who finally decides you’re trustworthy enough for chin scratches. The senior who’s seen a lot in life but still wags their tail every morning. Or the mischievous kitten who somehow manages to “help” with every task around the shelter.

It happens to all of us! These connections are part of what makes shelter work so special. We celebrate every adoption, even when it means saying goodbye to one of our favourites. Watching an animal we’ve fallen in love with walk out the door with their new family is exactly why we do what we do.

And don’t worry—our “favourite” changes all the time! Every new arrival has the potential to steal someone’s heart.

Daniella and Monkey! "Monkey only because I fostered him for 2 weekends. And although he chewed up a few of my things, I still absolutely love him! 💙🐾 He definitely lives up to his name."
Paula and Tiger Fist! "Tiger Fist is my guy. He’s got the cutest meow sounds like he’s smoked all his life. He’s just the sweetest guy loves his pets and in turn gives you the best head bumps and kisses."
Lynnette and Eva with Mister and Ray Ray!
Emma and Ahbal! "How can you NOT fall in love with that smushy face?!"
Ryan and Atlas! "What I love most about Atlas is his intelligence, resilience, and kindness. He's true to the German Shepherd motto of utility and intelligence. He's able to adapt, learn new tricks, be a bit of a chaos junkie, and loves water just like me. Needless to say, this boy has captivated my heart. ❤️❤️"
Sherry and Toro!
Nicole and Salsa! "He’s your classic “came in as a stray, but born to be a lap cat” type. The minute you open his enclosure, he comes out to greet you and is eager to get right on your lap. His engine starts up as soon as you pet him. Lovely, silky boy!"
