pet food bank

At times many families go through a difficult financial period where they could use a helping hand when it comes to caring for their pets. At the Humane Society, because we prefer that your pets remain in your home with you and your family – rather than having to make the difficult choice to surrender them to us because you cannot afford the cost of food – we offer a pet food bank service in partnership with local social service agencies.

While many human food banks supply pet food as well when available, the Humane Society works to help ensure that the following food banks are stocked with pet food:

Feeding Windsor

Pet food is distributed from several locations. The primary location is 999 Drouillard, Windsor (at New Song Church) and is open Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. Pet food is also distributed Fridays from 8am to 11am at 711 McEwan, Windsor (in partnership with Assumption Cares), Saturdays from 11am to 1pm at 395 University Ave East (in partnership with WEC Housing Corporation) and from a mobile location (in partnership with the CHC Street Health Team).

Kids First Pet Food Bank

Located at 900 Howard Ave, Windsor, pet food is distributed Mondays & Fridays from 1:30 -4:00 pm. Clients will not need to register in Link2Feed (Ontario Food Bank Association database) unless they are accessing the rest of the food bank, but will need ID. This pet food bank can be utilized once a month.

Downtown Mission

Located at 875 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor. Pet food pick up is available Tuesday through Friday, between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Pet Food Bank usage is subject to the Downtown Mission’s policies and procedures.

Please note that all food donated to the Humane Society is provided to these food banks, and is not available through the Humane Society.

Want to help pets in the community whose owners are going through a rough time? Please consider donating a bag of dog or cat food to one of these food banks. Pet food may be donated directly to any of the above agencies (please drop off food during listed times or call for other times), and is also accepted at the Humane Society.
