Amherstburg Animal Control

The Windsor/Essex County Humane Society is now providing animal control services for dogs for the Town of Amherstburg.  If you find a stray dog in the Town, please call us at 519-966-5751, 24 hours a day.  If you are able to safely confine the dog, this will help to keep him or her safe; for more information about what to do when you find a stray dog, please visit http://windsorhumane.org/lost-and-found/i-found-a-pet/.

If you’ve lost your dog, please visit http://windsorhumane.org/lost-and-found/i-lost-my-pet/ for helpful tips on searching for them, as well as a listing of all stray animals who have come to the Humane Society recently.  If your dog is brought in as a stray and is not wearing a current municipal license tag, you as the owner are responsible for a $50 pound fee when they are claimed.

While this new contract primarily address dogs, please note that the Humane Society will assist with injured or sick stray cats or wildlife as part of our humane programs, and in addition, Town residents may bring stray cats to the Humane Society daily from 8am to 6pm at no charge upon proof of residing in the Town.  If you find a stray cat, please visit http://windsorhumane.org/lost-and-found/found-cat/ for advice prior to taking action.

We are pleased to work in partnership with the Town of Amherstburg, and to provide these services to the residents (human and canine!) of the Town.
