Adoption Policies

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

First and foremost, we are looking for permanent, responsible homes for our animals. Thousands of animals die each year because irresponsible owners neglect them, let them breed or just decide that they no longer want their animals. Please consider the time and money required to own a pet. It’s a lifetime commitment and nothing less can be acceptable.

  • All animals are spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.
  • We only adopt out household pets.
  • We do not adopt animals as gifts or presents. However we do have gift certificates that can be purchased for use towards a pet adoption.

There is a mandatory 24 hour waiting period before all adoptions. This allows you the time to think your decision over and prepare your home for the new pet. In getting a pet, you are making a 10 to 20 year commitment. This should not be done impulsively. If you require more time or would like to come and visit the pet again that is fine with us.
