Foster Program

Volunteers Needed

Our foster volunteers are an important part of our volunteer team. Foster volunteers temporary care for animals in their home until the animal is ready to move into adoption at the Humane Society. Foster animals are often too young to go into adoption, require time to heal after a surgery, or need a little extra work on behaviour and socialization. We provide all the supplies, food, litter, leashes, medication, you provide the space and love.

We wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who stepped up to offer to foster animals for us during the COVID-19 crisis. By having animals in foster homes we are able to reduce the amount of staff needed in the shelter significantly, allowing the rest of our staff to stay safe at home and social distance. We currently have 153 animals in foster homes!

We have been overwhelmed by generous offers from people to foster during this crisis and now have a waiting list of people willing to foster animals. As a result, we are asking that you only submit a new application if you are able to foster bottle baby kittens, or if you are interested in continuing to foster after the current pandemic crisis.

If you can help foster, please check out our Foster Application Form, fill out the first two pages and return by email to foster@windsorhumane.org (if you aren’t able to scan the pages in please just take a clear photo of the completed form and email them to us).
