Our hard-working staff need some time to chill out too, so our shelter, adoption centre, and spay/neuter clinic will be closed for Canada Day on July 1 and July 2.  Don’t worry, a few of us are still here taking care of the animals, and you can reach an officer on call by calling 519-966-5751 and following the prompts.

This entrepreneurial, kind hearted young man is Jack, and he owns Captain Spaghetti Beard Incorporated – his company makes pet treats, toys, and more, and he generously donated the proceeds from his last few craft shows to help his furry friends at the Humane Society. Thank you for being a humane hero Jack!

Emmalee held her 10th birthday party at the Humane Society, and asked her friends to bring donations for the animals instead of gifts!  We are so touched to see young people like Emmalee being so kind and caring.  We hope you had a fun birthday!

On June 19, the Humane Society held our annual general meeting.  Attendees heard from Nancy Phillips, founder and president of Wings Wildlife Rehab Centre, who talked about their work helping wildlife in Windsor and Essex County.  We welcomed several new board members, and said goodbye to two long term board members, Carol Weale who has been a member of the Humane Society board of directors since 2005, and served as Vice President for a number of years. As well as Helmut Klingel who has been a member of the board since 2006, and was a founding member of the building committee that helped to build the new Adoption Centre and spay/neuter clinic. We thank both of them for their dedicated service.
